Original tile: Serial illicit offenders to lose ability to buy tobacco

Retailers who repeatedly commit tobacco-related offences will lose their ability to purchase tobacco. This is a measure contained in the European Tobacco Products Directive, effective as of May 20, 2010, and will introduce two unique codes, one to identify a company and the other for each of its stores. These codes, designed to combat illegal trade, may be deactivated once a retailer has committed a crime.
